Ben Schneweis was named Associate Athletic Director and Compliance Director in the spring of 2021. He previously served as Assistant Athletic Director from 2018-2021 while also serving as Head Men’s Soccer Coach, a title he held from 2012-2021.

As Associate AD, Schneweis has sport oversight, student-athlete educational programming, and NCAA Compliance in his portfolio and he also serves as Concordia’s NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Designee. He has been at the forefront of the creation and oversight of programs, partnerships, and events such as the Cobber Leadership Academy, the Golden Cobbs, the InSports Foundation/Cobber Camp Scholarship Fund, Agents of Change: Action Through Storytelling, It’s On US, and more.

Schneweis grew up in Grand Forks, N.D., played soccer and basketball at Red River High School, and then went on to play collegiate soccer at Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in English and also received his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from North Dakota State University.

Before coming to Concordia, Schneweis was an Assistant Coach for the North Dakota State University women’s soccer program after being named the Director of Soccer Operations in the summer of 2010. That fall, he was part of a staff that helped NDSU make their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history after winning the Summit League Tournament. During the 2011 season, he helped the Bison rack up the most regular season wins and most shutouts in program history while advancing to the Summit League Tournament championship game for the second consecutive season.

Before his stint at NDSU, Schneweis served as both the men’s and women’s assistant coach at NCAA Division II Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky., having helped the women’s team qualify for the first NCAA tournament appearance in school history in 2009.
