A Fine Homecoming Finish

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/09/22)---Concordia finished off Homecoming weekend in style as they posted wins in three consecutive sets, after falling behind 1-0, and beat Macalester 3-1 (17-25, 25-8, 25-20, 25-17).

The Cobbers used 10-2 surge at the start of the second set to grab the momentum in the match and never looked back.

The victory is the third in the last four matches for Concordia who is now 5-12 overall. CC is 2-3 in conference play and tied for eighth place in the league standings. The Scots are also 2-3 in the MIAC. They lose for the second straight match and are now 12-7 overall.

Concordia gave up a 7-2 run midway through opening set which allowed Macalester to post the 25-17 win.

Cobber head coach Faith Radermacher made some adjustments between sets, and the moves paid off as CC bolted from the starting line to take leads of 6-0, 10-2 and 18-4. The 25-8 win marks the fewest points allowed in a set by the Cobbers all season.

Concordia pulled away in the back stretch of the third set after they led 19-18. The Cobbers scored the next four points and went on to post the 25-20 win.

The Cobbers never trailed in the fourth set and went on a 7-0 run after they led 13-11 which put the set, and match, out of reach.

The Cobbers hit .220 for the match and had 45 kills. It marks the fourth time this season that CC has hit at least .200 in a match. They are now 3-1 in those matches. Concordia has hit at least .200 in both of their conference victories.
