.72 Of A Second Away From Two School Records

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (02/18/22)---Concordia was less than 1-second from breaking two school records on Day 3 at the MIAC Championship Meet.

Hailey Jaeger nearly took down her second program mark at the championship meet, while the 200-yard freestyle team posted three career-best times and recorded a podium finish.

The two near program records helped the Cobbers score 27 team points and stay in eighth place heading into the final day of competition on Saturday.

Jaeger, who broke the school record in the 50-yard freestyle on Thursday, nearly duplicated the feat in the 100-yard butterfly on Friday. She swam a 1:01.12 in the prelims which was only .07 of a second from tying the record of 1:01.05 set by Sarah Nelson on 2017.

Jaeger's time was good enough to earn her a spot in her second "B" final of the meet. Jaeger was slightly off her prelim time in the final where she clocked a 1:01.68 and placed 14th in the event.

Jaeger then led off the 200-yard free relay and helped the Cobbers record a time of 1:43.14. That mark is a season best by almost 4-seconds and was only .65 of a second off the CC record of 1:42.49 set in 2010.

Jaeger was joined by the trio of Jess Bray, Camille Gunderson and Kaitlin Cramer who all swam career-best times to give the quartet a chance to break the school record.

The busiest Cobber on Day 2 was Cramer who anchored the 200 free relay unit, and also put up a lifetime-best time and a season-best time in two other events. She had the other Top 20 individual finish for Concordia on Friday. She touched the wall in 1:04.32 in the 100-yard backstroke which was a lifetime-best time and nearly qualified her for the "B" final. She finished in 19th place – less than 1-second away from the Top 16.

Cramer was also one of three Concordia athletes to record season-best times in the 200-yard freestyle. Joining Cramer were Rachel Andersen and Brienna Timm. Cramer led the trio with a 2:05.81. She was followed by Andersen at 2:12.21 and Timm at 2:13.13.

The other event that featured multiple Cobbers recording lifetime-best times was the 100-yard breaststroke. Chantelle Schmidt touched the wall in 1:22.61 which was over 3-seconds faster than her previous best, and Lindsey Biebl recorded a time of 1:24.66. Biebl's time was almost 7-seconds faster than her previous best time in 2022.

UP NEXT: Concordia will finish off the MIAC Championship Meet on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the U of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The prelims start at 10:30 a.m. and the finals are scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
