There's No Place Like The Road For The Cobbers In 2023

ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/14/23)---Make it six of the last seven – and three straight on the road in the conference – for Concordia.

The Cobbers used a 17-9 third-quarter advantage to run away from Hamline, and post a 73-59 win in St. Paul. It is the third straight conference road win for Concordia – and sixth win in the last seven games.

Concordia never trailed against Hamline as they upped their record to 10-3 in all games and 7-3 in conference play. CC is tied for third place in the league standings as they near the halfway point of the MIAC schedule.

The Pipers fall into a similar record line (10-3, 7-3 MIAC), and are tied with the Cobbers for the No.3 spot in the conference standings.

Concordia scored the first six points of the game, raced out to a 7-point lead at 13-6 and never looked back. CC led 19-14 after the first quarter, 37-32 at the half, and then used their third-quarter surge to roll to a 54-51 advantage after 30 minutes of play.

Senior guard Emily Beseman led all players in the gym. She 5-for-9 from 3-point land and finished with a career-high 28 points. The 28 points is also the most by a Cobber this season, and most since Mary Sem dropped 34 on Hamline on Feb. 3, 2020.

Beseman also came away with eight rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Beseman wasn't the only Cobber to post a career-high stat total on the day. Sophomore Makayla Anderson was tough around the hoop and hauled down a career-high 15 rebounds. Her inside presence gave CC a 42-31 advantage in rebounding in the game.

Anderson also scored seven points and dished out three dimes.

Jordyn Kahler stepped into the starting lineup after a season-ending injury to Autumn Thompson, and responded by going 5-for-8 from the floor and finishing with 14 points. It's her second double-digit scoring total in the last four games.

Concordia also used their speed off the dribble to put the HU defense in trouble and record a decided edge in free throws. The Cobbers went 15-for-21 from the foul line, while the Pipers only attempted 10 foul shots the entire game.
