Cold Outside Shooting Costs Cobbers At St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (01/10/24)---Concordia shot a season-low 13.3% (2-for-15) from outside the arc and lost 66-58 at St. Olaf.

It's the first time that the Cobbers have shot under 23.0% this year, as they have their 1-game win streak come to an end. CC is now 8-5 in all games and 4-4 in conference play. The Oles up their mark to 5-8 in all games and are a similar 4-4 in the MIAC.

Concordia never trailed in the first half until the final minute of play. The Oles connected on a 3-point basket to take a 34-31 lead with 11 seconds left in the period. That lead would hold up heading into the halftime break.

St. Olaf scored the first three points of the second half, and the Cobbers were never able to catch the Oles for the final 20 minutes of play. CC cut the lead to three points on a pair of occasions, with the last one coming on a dunk from Rowan Nelson with 11:17 left in the final half. St. Olaf responded with a 7-0 run that kept Concordia at arm's length for the remainder of regulation.

The Cobbers shot 40.0% (24-for-60) from the floor and 53.3% (8-for-15) from the free throw line, while St. Olaf connected on 49.1% (26-for-53) of their attempts from the field, 33.3% (7-for-21) of their chances from distance and 63.6% (7-for-11) of their foul shots.

Nelson led the Cobbers in scoring. He came away with 13 points to go with seven rebounds. Jackson Loge recorded his first collegiate double-double. He put up 12 points and grabbed 11 boards.

Matt Johnson and Jacob Cook gave CC four players with at least 10 points in the game. Johnson had 12 points, and Cook scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
