Jangula's MIAC Career Best Not Enough At Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. (12/11/21)---Concordia put its best stretch against Hamline in a 4-minute period around the halftime break, turning an 8-point deficit into a 1-point lead. Unfortunately, the Cobbers were unable to sustain that pace and fell 66-61.

Senior David Birkeland hit a jumper with 2:16 left in the first half to cut the Pipers lead to six at 29-23, and then freshman Dylan Inniger's made field goal at the 1:52 mark gave the Cobbers a 1-point lead at 33-32.

Concordia's 12-3 run gave way to a 16-4 stretch in favor of the Pipers, and make CC chase the game for the final half of the second period.

The loss is the third straight for the Cobbers. Concordia is now 2-6 overall and 1-4 in league play. Of CC's six losses, five have come on the road. Hamline ends its 2-game losing skid and improves to 3-5 in all games and 2-3 in the MIAC.

Concordia was paced by junior guard Jackson Jangula who posted 22 points which is a career-high in MIAC play. Jangula went 9-for-12 from the floor and 4-for-6 from outside the arc. He also came down with five rebounds which is one shy of his career best.

Freshman Rowan Nelson was the only other Cobber player with more than six points in the game. He finished with 18 points and went 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Nelson added four assists and three rebounds. He has now scored in double figures in all seven games of his college career.

The Cobbers shot 42.9% (21-for-49) from the field which is the third straight game that CC has shot 40.0% or better from the floor.

Concordia went 6-for-26 (23.1%) from outside the arc and made 13 of its 16 (81.3%) of their foul line attempts.

Hamline connected on 42.9% (24-for-56) of their shots from the floor. HU also made 36.4% (12-for-33) of their attempts from distance. The Pipers were 6-for-15 (40.0%) from the free throw line.
