Bio

Anthony Renz became the 20th head coach in Cobber baseball history when he was hired in the spring of 2023. Before he was named the full-time head coach he was an assistant coach for the program for five seasons from 2019-23.

Renz has a long history in baseball. He has been the hitting and bench coach for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks since 2018. During that time, he helped the RedHawks capture the championship of the American Association. Before joining the RedHawks staff, Renz was an assistant coach for Shippensburg University, where he helped the team qualify for the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

Renz played collegiately at Mansfield University (Pa.), where he was a 4-year starter and 3-year captain. He was a 3-time PSAC scholar-athlete and was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team as a senior in 2015. He went on to play for the Evansville Otters in the Frontier League and with the RedHawks in 2015.  

Renz earned a bachelor's degree from Mansfield in Mass Communication in 2015 and received a master's degree in Communication Studies from Shippensburg University in 2018.
