MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/05/25)---If the first meet is any sign of things to come for the Cobbers, the 2025 season is looking awfully bright.
Concordia had four runners break the 19-minute mark, had all five of their scoring athletes come home in under 20 minutes and finished second at the MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet.
The Cobbers ended the meet with 60 team points which was 60 points fewer than their total at last year's MSUM meet. CC also had all five of their scoring crew place in the Top 15 scorers of the meet.
Sophomore Ashley Nelson paced the Cobbers. She ran a 18:32.9 over the 5K course and placed 13th in the individual standings. Last year she placed also placed 13th but was 21 seconds off her second-year pace.
Concordia's No.2, No.3 and No.4 finishers were separated by a mere 5.7 seconds. Kelyn Henry-Perlich, Lilly Dickinson and Brooklyn Hart all placed in the Top 20 as they went 18, 19 and 20 on the final race sheet.
Henry-Perlich improved on her time from last year by over a full minute and put up a mark of 18:50.4. Dickinson, competing in her first collegiate meet, jumped into the Cobbers' scoring group by running an 18:50.7. Hart rounded out the sub-19-minute quartet by crossing the line in 18:56.1.
Londyn Ames and Kyla Nygaard were only separated from the group of three CC runners by a single athlete. Ames ran a 19:32.50 and placed 22nd, while Nygaard, a standout middle distance runner for the CC track and field team, clocked a 19:37.7 in her first collegiate cross country meet to post a 23rd-place finish.
Concordia will look to keep their early-season success going when they participate in the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Sept. 19.
