Cobbers Fall At Northwestern

ST. PAUL, Minn. (11/05/24)---Concordia lost 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-10) at Northwestern (Minn.) in its final non-conference match of the season.
The Cobbers started the match by staying close with the Eagles. The opening set was tied at 3-3 before Northwestern went on a 12-1 run.
The second set started in the same fashion with the Cobbers going back-and-forth with the Eagles for the first eight points of the set. The score was tied at 4-4 and then Northwestern used another big-point run to pull away from CC. The Eagles scored nine consecutive points after the tie and posted 17 of the next 21 points.
Concordia's best attacking set came in the opener when they hit .107. The Cobbers finished the match with a .012 attack percentage and had 21 kills on the night.
Northwestern (19-8) posted a .457 attack percentage for the night and came away with 48 kills.
Mallory Leitner and Jordyn Johnson led the Cobber offense with six kills each. Leitner hit .222 while Johnson posted a .133 attack percentage.
Hanna Mooney was the only Concordia defensive player with a double-digit dig total. She had 10 digs in the three sets.
First-year setter Betsy Schiltz had 13 assists, while senior Maria Watt posted a pair of blocks.
The Cobbers will finish off their season when they play at Carleton on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
