Cobbers Close Out Home Schedule
Concordia capped its 2024 home schedule of matches by falling 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-17) to St. Benedict.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/02/24)---Concordia capped its 2024 home schedule of matches by falling 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-17) to St. Benedict.
Like their match on Friday against St. Olaf, the Cobbers best set came in the opener where they lost in extra points. The first set featured eight tie scores, with the last coming at 24-24 before the Bennies closed out the bout with a set error and an attack error by the Cobbers.
Concordia held a 17-16 lead in the first set and then staved off a match point at 24-23 before losing by two.
The Cobbers hit a match-high .250 in the first set and had 15 kills.
Concordia ended the night by hitting at least .150 in all three sets and finished with a .213 attack percentage. It marked the second time this season that CC has posted an attack percentage over .200.
The Cobbers had 39 kills which is the most in any 3-set match this season.
St. Benedict (10-11, 6-3 MIAC) posted 46 kills and hit .256. It marked the 14th time this season that Concordia's opponent has hit over .250.
Junior Mallory Leitner led Concordia in kills for the second time on the weekend. She finished with 11 kills and had a .296 attack percentage. It is the third time in the last four matches she has recorded at least 10 kills in a match. She has seven double-digit kill totals for the season.
Senior Maria Watt led all players with a .412 attack percentage. She had eight winners in 17 total attacks.
Hanna Mooney led the Cobber defense in digs for the second straight match. She had 11 digs in the three sets.
Betsy Schiltz finished with 30 assists. It is the third time in the last seven matches she has reached the 30-assist mark.
Concordia will play their final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 when they travel to St. Paul to take on Northwestern.
