Cobbers Finish Off Pointer Invite
Concordia finished off the Wis.-Stevens Point Pointer Invitational by falling 3-0 to St. Norbert (25-20, 25-23, 25-18) and 3-0 to Lakeland (25-17, 25-17, 25-18).

Concordia 0 vs. St. Norbert 3
The Cobbers' top set of the weekend came in the opener against St. Norbert. After losing the first set 25-20, Concordia led 23-21 in the second after an attack error by the Green Knights. Unfortunately for CC, St. Norbert was able to come away with a pair of kills to tie the set at 23-23 and took a 2-0 lead in the match after an attack error and a kill.
Concordia hit .068 and had 31 kills in Match 1 against the Green Knights. St. Norbert posted 43 kills and had a .198 attack percentage.
Jordyn Johnson led the Cobbers with seven kills and hit .250, while Maria Watt and Cayla Sailer both had six winners. Watt hit a team-high .312 for the match.
Betsy Schiltz recorded 28 assists and Elizabeth Naugle had 12 digs. Avery Templin also had a double-digit dig total with 10.
Megan Olson recorded four blocks in the first match on Saturday.
Concordia 0 vs. Lakeland 3
Concordia could never find any momentum in its final match of the weekend and fell in three consistent sets.
All three sets were won in the second half of the bout. The first set was tied at 10-10 before the Muskies went on an 8-3 run. The second set was tied at 13-13 before Lakeland pulled away with a 10-2 streak and the final set had a 1-point differential at 17-16 before the Muskies closed out the match on a 8-2 stretch.
The Cobbers hit a season-best .242 against Lakeland and came away with 34 kills. The Muskies had 49 winners and hit .387.
Mallory Leitner and Samantha VanHeel combined for 17 of the team's 34 kills. Leitner had a team-high nine winners and hit .304 while VanHeel hit .538 and had eight kills.
Schiltz posted 27 assists and Sailer was the only CC player with a double-digit dig total at 11.
Watt was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the tournament.
Concordia will host its home, and conference, opener when they face Macalester on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
