Brakke Leads Cobbers At Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa (9/24/22)---Senior Anna Brakke led Concordia at the 2-day Wartburg Invite. Brakke finished the three matches with a team high in kills on the weekend.

The Cobbers opened the trio of matches by losing 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-22) to host Wartburg on Friday. CC then returned to the court on Saturday where they fell 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-21) to Wis.-Stout. Concordia finished off the weekend with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-14) defeat at the hands of Coe College.

The three losses drops Concordia's overall record to 2-11 for the year.

Brakke ended the three matches with 27 kills and 43 digs. She hit .140 on the weekend. Brakke now has 111 kills for the year.  

Brakke went on to be name to the Wartburg Invite All-Tournament Team.   

Brook Carney continued her recent success at the net by posting 26 winners and coming away with a team-high .145 attack percentage.

Hannah Keil had one of her best tournaments on the year. She was third on the team with 19 kills and had 5 total blocks.  

Madison Kisch and Chloe Markovic led the Cobber defense with team highs in blocks and digs. Kisch put up 11 total blocks on the weekend, after having only 3 total blocks on the year before the weekend. Markovic added 44 digs to her season total and now has a team-high 231 for the year. That total is fourth in the MIAC.

Junior Kaia Lill captained the offense by recording 81 assists. She has 405 for they and now stands in the No.3 spot in the conference in that stat category.
