Team, Hovland & Selle All Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors
MOORHEAD, Minn. (7/13/22)----The Concordia women's track and field team earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors, and a pair of student-athletes were named to the All-Academic List for the USTFCCCA.
In order to be honored as an USTFCCCA All-Academic Team a program must have a combined team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 on a 4.00 scale.
The team award marks the 27th consecutive season that Concordia has earned the USTFCCCA honor. The streak started when head coach Marv Roeske began his tenure at Concordia.
Loras was named both the NCAA Division I Women's Indoor Track & Field National Scholar Team of the Year and the NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Team of the Year after posting a cumulative GPA of 3.41 and sweeping the indoor and outdoor titles with a dominant victory indoors and a dramatic win outdoors.
More than 150 teams were honored by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday.
The Cobber women's track and field team finished the year with a team GPA of 3.59, which was an increase from last year's All-Academic Team that carried a 3.48 GPA.
Cayle Hovland and Peyton Selle were the two student-athletes who earned individual All-Academic honors. It is the third straight year that Hovland has claimed the award, while Selle earns the honor for the second straight year.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have finished the season ranked among the Top 50 individuals in an event or have been a part of a relay team that was ranked in the Top 35.
