Herrmann Leads Cobber Quartet

FARGO, N.D. (4/02/21)---Senior Josie Herrmann was one of four Cobber athletes to compete in the NDSU Spring Classic on Friday. Herrmann took the opportunity to face Division I competition and came away with a Cobber Top 10 mark in her only event of the day.

Herrmann chose to run in the 1500 meters for the second straight meet to begin the outdoor season. Last week at St. John's she clocked a 4:45.33 which was the seventh fastest time in program history. On Friday she eclipsed that mark by almost 2 seconds and now sits in the No.6 spot all time at CC.

Herrmann crossed the line in a time of 4:43.58 which was good for fifth place among a group of 19 athletes – the most competitive race in the meet. Her time is the second fastest in the MIAC this year and ninth best in all of Division III.

Sophomore Grace Ivesdal also competed in the 1500 meters and ran a time of 6:02.76

Freshman Maddie Guler competed in her second collegiate track meet. Guler, who played on the Cobber women's basketball team in the winter, ran in the 100 and 200 meters on Friday. She was 10th in the 100 at 13.59 and ran a 28.16 in the 200 meters. Her time in the 100 is the 10th fastest in the MIAC this year and she is in the Top 20 in the 200.

The final member of the Cobber contingent to cross the river was sophomore Kelly Lorenz who ran in the 400-meter hurdles. Competing in the very windy day. Lorenz clocked a time of 1:09.83 which is the top time by a CC runner this year and third fastest in the conference this spring.
