Cobbers Close Out 2024 In Style

Concordia saved its best for last as they claimed a 6-3 win over Hamline in the final match of the 2024 season. The Cobbers recorded a pair of wins in doubles play and then cruised to four wins in the singles competition to record their first MIAC win of the year.
Seniors Honored On Final Weekend Doubleheader

Concordia celebrated its seniors on the final doubleheader weekend of the year. The Cobbers honored seniors Raquel Egge, Anna Hacker and Mary Skorich before their match with Macalester on Saturday and they played their final road contest of the year at St. Benedict on Sunday.
A Nail-Biter In The 2nd Match Of Weekend Doubleheader

Concordia nearly hung on to beat St. Mary’s in the second match of its MIAC doubleheader weekend. The Cobbers won two of the three doubles matches against the Cardinals but then lost a pair of singles matches in the super-set tie-breaker and lost 5-4. Concordia opened the weekend by losing 9-0 to regionally-ranked Gustavus in St. Peter on Saturday.
The Best For Last On Spring Training Trip

Concordia saved its best tennis for the final day in Florida as they lost a back-and-forth 6-3 decision to Ursinus (Pa.) and then blanked King’s (Pa.) 9-0.
Cobbers Fall In Home MIAC Doubleheader Weekend

After playing a pair of matches in the Duluth area last weekend, the Cobbers returned home for a conference doubleheader weekend. Concordia wasn’t able to come up with ley points on Saturday or Sunday and lost 9-0 to Bethel and 8-1 to St. Catherine.

Concordia lost a pair of matches on their conference/non-conference trip to Duluth. The Cobbers fell 9-0 to league opponent St. Scholastica on Saturday and then dropped a 6-3 decision at UW-Superior on Sunday.

Concordia finished off its home-and-away non-conference weekend by dropping a 6-1 decision against Division II Minn.-Crookston in a match played in Grand Forks.
Cobbers Go 4-Wheeling To Claim Dramatic Win Over Eagles

Concordia went 4-wheeling in their non-conference match with Northwestern. The Cobbers used the unconventional off-road path to victory as they lost all three doubles matches to start the day, but then rallied to claim five of the six singles matches to prevail by a 5-4 score line.
Cobbers Battle Division II Dragons

Concordia battled Division II MSU Moorhead in its first match of the spring held at Courts Plus in Fargo. The Cobbers had several close matches in the team score that was played under the 7-point DII scoring system where the three doubles bouts only yield one team point.
Cobbers Turn Up The Heat In 2024 Opener

The outside temperatures matched the play of the Cobbers in their 2024 opener against Crown. It was 45 degrees outside the Owatonna Tennis Center on Feb. 3 and Concordia turned up the heat even further against the Polars. The Cobbers didn’t lose a game in doubles play and only dropped four games in singles competition.

Former Cobber Forknell Hired As Head Coach

Former Cobber athlete and assistant coach Jenna Forknell has been hired as the new head coach of the women's tennis program. Forknell takes over for Zach Zitur and becomes the 11th coach in the history of the program since 1991.
Zitur Resigns As Head Coach

Zach Zitur announced his resignation as head coach for the Cobber women’s tennis program. Zitur was the head coach for the women’s program for five seasons starting in 2019. During that time, he also served as the head coach for the men’s team for three seasons from 2019-21.
Egge Earns All-Conference Honorable Mention Honors

Concordia senior Raquel Egge earned MIAC postseason honors for the second time in her career. Egge was named to the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team in singles play for the recently-completed 2023 season. Egge also received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors for the 2021 season.
