Cobbers Head South To Reopen MIAC Play
A week after returning home from Florida on their annual spring training trip, the Cobbers once again headed south as they returned to conference play in Winona against St. Mary’s. Concordia got singles wins from Emma Farder and Isabelle Smith, but it wasn’t enough as they dropped a 6-3 decision to the Cardinals.
WINONA, Minn. (3/15/25)---A week after returning home from Florida on their annual spring training trip, the Cobbers once again headed south as they returned to conference play in Winona against St. Mary's.
Concordia got singles wins from Emma Farder and Isabelle Smith, but it wasn't enough as they dropped a 6-3 decision to the Cardinals.
Annalise Skrade and Claire Kimman came up with a clutch doubles win at No.3 doubles to allow CC to only trail 2-1 heading into singles play. Skrade and Kimman rolled to an 8-2 victory. It was their first doubles win of the year as a tandem.
Farder continued her successful form in the first match back in Minnesota. She claimed a straight set 6-4, 6-3 win at No.2 singles and has now won three of her last five singles bouts.
Smith got bageled in her first set at No.5 singles but then pulled the huge turnaround to win 6-2 in the second and closed out her first collegiate win with a 10-8 victory in the super-set tie-breaker.
Concordia will have its first home match in over a month when they host Wis.-Superior on Saturday, Mar. 29 at 1 p.m. at Courts Plus.
