A Match Of Two Tales Against MSU Moorhead

FARGO, N.D. (4/17/15)—It was a match of two tales – doubles and singles – in Concordia's match with cross-town rival MSU Moorhead . The Cobbers battled through three tight doubles bouts but lost all three and then stumbled in singles play and fell 9-0 to the Dragons.

The most dramatic match of the entire afternoon was played out at No.3 doubles where Kendra Stoick and Susan Zniewski were edged in the tie-breaker. The match was tied at 8-8 and then went to extra points in the tie-breaker before Stoick and Zniewski lost 9-7.

The other two doubles bouts went back-and-forth as well. Concordia wasn't able to string together points in bunches at the back end of bout No.1 and No.2 doubles and lost both. Brittany Glatt and Morgan Sawatzke dropped an 8-4 decision at No.2 doubles while Jade Haseltine and Taylor Peterson fell 8-3 at No.1 doubles.

The singles matches were another story as the Cobbers were never able to get on track. The closest match was at No.5 singles where Sawatzke lost 6-3, 6-3.

The match against the Dragons was the first of a home tripleheader for Concordia to end the season. The Cobbers will host St. Cloud State tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. before squaring off against Gustavus on Sunday, Apr. 19 at noon.
