Cramer Wins 1000 Freestyle To Pace Cobbers In Home Opener

MOORHEAD, Minn.  (11/13/21)---Kaitlin Cramer gave Concordia a perfect start to their home opener as she won the very first individual event in the Cobbers dual meet triangular with St. Benedict and Jamestown.

Cramer kicked off the 2022 home season by winning the 1000 freestyle in a time of 12:04.00. She posted a season best time in the event and won the race by over 18 seconds.

Cramer also posted a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. She helped the Cobbers post six different Top 5 finishes in the meet.

Cramer's time of 2:24.62 in the 200-yard backstroke was also a season best by 4-seconds, and was less than 3-seconds behind the second-place finisher.

Like Cramer, junior Jess Bray and freshman Hailey Jaeger also posted a pair of Top 5 finishes.

Bray did her damage in the freestyle events. She was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 2:14.09, and touched the wall in fifth place in 100-yard freestyle with a mark of 59.90.

Jaeger joined Cramer in the Top 3 club when she finished third in the 100-yard freestyle – just ahead of Bray. It was Jaeger's second consecutive third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. She also placed third at the season-opening meet at Minn.-Morris.

Jaeger's second Top 5 mark came in the 200-yard individual medley where she swam a season-best time of 2:31.70 and was fifth in the event.

Cobber freshman diver Kiernan Darling had her second solid meet to start the year. She finished with a total of 324.2 and her 6-dive list score was a 10-point improvement over her first collegiate meet at Morris.

The top Cobber relay showing was turned in by the 400-freestyle quartet of Cramer, Bray, Jaeger and Camille Gunderson who finished in third place with a mark of 4:01.96.
