MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/01/20)---Concordia honored Lydia Larson on Senior Day during their final event before the MIAC Championship Meet.
The Cobbers fell short against crosstown rival MSU Moorhead on Saturday as Concordia is in the middle of their training period for the conference meet. CC had seven Top 3 finishes in the meet but lost 503-303 to the Division II Dragons.
Larson helped lead the team in her final home meet as she recorded one of the top 3 finishes on the day. Larson was third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.89.
The biggest drop in time on the day belonged to junior Anna Backes who clocked a 5:43.60 in the 500-yard freestyle. Her finishing time is almost a full 10 seconds faster than her previous season best.
Allison Marcus had two of the seven Top 3 finishes for CC. She was second in the 50-yard breaststroke and third in the 100-yard individual medley. She swam a season-best 35.59 in the breaststroke which edged her previous season best by .59 of a second. That time also pushes her into the Top 15 of the MIAC this year.
Sophomore Alexandra Rasmussen and freshmen Kaitlin Cramer and Audrey Zeleny came away with the other Top 3 finishes for CC. Rasmussen was third in the 50-yard backstroke with a mark of 34.56.
Cramer touched the wall in 1:05.02 in the 100-yard freestyle and placed third. She was also fourth in the 50-yard backstroke.
Zeleny put up her Top 3 mark in the 200-yard freestyle where she swam a 2:17.48 and finished in third place.
UP NEXT: Concordia will continue with their preparation for the MIAC Championship Meet with an 11-day training regimen. The Cobbers will head for the Twin Cities to compete in the conference meet on Feb. 13-15 at the University of Minnesota.
