Conference Opener Settled In Second Minute Of Play

ST. PAUL, Minn.(9/15/21)---Concordia allowed a goal at the 2-minute mark of the first half, went back-and-forth with undefeated Macalester but couldn't come up with the game-tying goal in the conference opener and lost 1-0.

The lost is the first in four games for the Cobbers. CC is now 3-4-0 on the year. The Scots up their unbeaten streak to four games and are now 3-0-1.

The first half was statistically even with both teams getting two shots on goal. The Cobbers held a 1-0 edge in corner kicks while the Scots had a 5-4 lead in total shots.

The second half was more of the same. Macalester once again held a 5-4 edge in total shots and both teams had three corners in the final 45 minutes of play.

Cobber junior Samantha Holmberg led all players with four shots. Holmberg, Lauren Tschider and Grace Lawlor had the three shots on frame for CC.

Sophomore goalie Bre Nelson made four saves in goal.

UP NEXT: Concordia will host St. Scholastica on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 3:30 p.m. The Saints are 0-4-1 on the year and dropped a 4-1 decision against Gustavus in the first MIAC game in program history.
