Cobbs Drop OT Game At Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/12/19)---Concordia led 1-0 at the half but then gave up a goal in second and another in overtime and lost 2-1 at Macalester.

Freshman Samantha Holmberg staked Concordia to a 1-0 lead when she netted her second collegiate goal at the 37:19 mark of the first half.

The Cobber dominated play in the opening 45 minutes of play and didn't allow Macalester to take a single shot in the period. CC held a 9-0 edge in total shots and a 4-0 mark in shots on goal over the opening half.

Concordia (8-5, 1-5 MIAC) continued to hold the better of the play at the start of the second half as they had three more shots in the first 11 minutes of play.

Macalester (2-9-1, 2-4-1 MIAC) was able to get the game-tying goal in the 63rd minute of play on their very first set of shots in the game. A Scot attacker fired a shot on goal and then another player knocked home the rebound to tie the game at 1-1 at 62:35.

Both teams had one shot on goal in the final 25 minutes of play but couldn't come up with a game-changing second strike.

The Scots won the game with the golden goal just 29-seconds into overtime.

Concordia held a 14-4 advantage in total shots for the game and had a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. The Cobbers had six corner kicks while not allowing the Scots to take a single corner kick in the 92 minutes of play.

Cobber goalie Lexi Jemtrud made two saves in the game.
