Granning Goes Goal Crazy

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/07/19)---Senior Karsen Granning scored three goals to help lead Concordia to a 4-0 win over Northland.

Granning's hat trick finished off a 9-point weekend which led to the Cobbers pushing their season record to 4-0-0. It is the first time since the 2009 season that Concordia has won the first four games of the year. CC went on to win 14 straight to start the year in 2009.  

Granning, who entered the game having scored a goal and added an assist in Friday's 4-1 win over Northwestern, scored the game-winning goal at 6:31 of the first half. She added an insurance goal at 22:41 before finishing off her hat trick at the 71:59 mark of the second period.

The three goals pushes Granning's team-leading total to five. She is now tied for the MIAC lead in goals scored and total points (11). Her single-season career high came last season when she netted six goals.  

Klara Beinhorn collected assists on the first two goals by Granning and has recorded two points in three of the team's first four games of the year.

Rachel Nemer earned her second assist of the weekend on Granning's second goal.

Sophomore Kay Franzese had the other goal for the Cobbers. She scored her second goal of the season at the 55:20 mark. Kalli Baarstad recorded her third assist in the past two days.

Concordia didn't allow a shot in the 90 minutes of play and outshot the Lumberjills 44-0 in total shots and 33-0 in shots on goal.

Granning led all layers with six shots while freshmen Megan Barnick and Grace Lawlor had five shots each.

Sophomore Lexi Jemtrud started the game in goal for the Cobbers and played the first 66:12. Junior Erin Larsen played the final 23:48. Jemtrud earns the win and is now 4-0 on the season.
