Emily Wendorff scored the first goal of the season for the Cobbers in CC's 2-1 win at St. Scholastica.

A Very Good Bounce

DULUTH, Minn. (9/04/15)—Concordia received a fortuitous bounce in the second overtime period against St. Scholastica and came away with a 2-1 win. The victory was the first of the year for the Cobbers and evens their record at 1-1.

Paige McCullough started the movement that led to the game-winning goal. She received the ball on the left wing and drove the ball deep into the Saints defensive end and then sent a crossing pass into the penalty area. Senior forward Morgan Holm got a touch on the ball with her head and then the ball caromed into a Scholastica defender and then bounced into the left corner of the net.

The Cobbers got on the board first in the opening half when Emily Wendorff hammered a shot from the top of the penalty area that found the back of the net. Freshman Alison Enno picked up her first collegiate assist on the play. For Wendorff, who led the team in scoring last season, it was her 11th career goal in maroon and gold.

St. Scholastica tied the game at 1-1 in the ninth minute of the second half. The Saints were able to get a cross into the penalty area where Leah Hamm headed home the ball.

Concordia goalie Elizabeth Bitzan made three saves to earn the 25th win of her career.

MOMENT THAT MATTERED
A Solid Start
The Cobbers started the first half and overtime on a high note. In each period Concordia had the majority of possession and attacked the Saints goal on a regular basis. The Cobbers outshot Scholastica 7-1 in the opening half of play and then had three corner kicks in the first 10-minute overtime period.

STAT STUFF
Concordia did not allow a corner kick in the game. It marks the first time that CC has held their opponent without a corner since the second game of last season when they held an 8-0 advantage over Wis.-Oshkosh. The Cobbers also won that game in overtime.

Concordia outshot the Saints 13-8 in total shots for the game and 5-3 in shots on goal.

SOUND SMART WITH YOUR FRIENDS
