FARGO, N.D. (10/15/13)—
Concordia's ability to get league points in pressure situations continued on a cold, rainy, blustery Tuesday as the Cobbers got a goalmouth scramble goal in overtime and beat Bethel 1-0.

The one-goal win is the Cobbers' third straight game where the outcome has been determined by a goal or less and third straight where Concordia has earned valuable league points. The victory gives Concordia three more points in the league standings and keeps CC atop the conference standings. The Cobbers are now 6-1-1 in the MIAC which gives them 19 league points. That total is four points clear of second-place St. Ben's. Concordia is now 9-3-1 in all games.

The game-winning goal at 8:45 of the first overtime period came courtesy of a wind-aided dangerous ball that bounced in the Bethel penalty area. The ball was played up in the air and the steady 10-20 mph wind carried the ball towards the BU goal. The ball bounced and then a pile of players converged to win possession before the second bounce. The Royal goalie came to collect the ball and just before she was able to secure it with her outstretched hands, Marta Prosinski was able to win the ball with her head.  Prosinski's header went through the keeper's hands and rolled into the vacated goal.

The goal was Prosinski's sixth of the season and third game-winning goal of the year. The victory in OT was the Cobbers' third overtime game of the year. CC is now 1-1-1 in those extra-period contests.

Concordia controlled possession for most of the game. The Cobbers went with the prevailing wind in the first half and dominated possession and shots on goal. CC had a 10-2 advantage in total shots in the first 45 minutes and a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.

The Cobbers were able to control the game in the second half but the shot margin was a lot closer. CC had a 5-3 advantage in total shots and 3-1 in shots on goal.

CC had the only three shots in the overtime periods and finished the game with an 18-5 edge in total shots for the game. Concordia had a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Cobber goalie Elizabeth Bitzan made two saves to record her second straight shutout and third in the last four games. She now has seven blankings for the year and has a league-leading 0.67 goals against average.

Concordia will take a break from conference games when they head to Illinois for a pair of games over mid-semester break. The Cobbers will pay at Domincan on Saturday, Oct. 19 and then at Aurora on Monday, Oct. 21.
