Shots-To-Goal Ratio Reversed In Finale

BLAINE, Minn. (2/01/20)---On Friday Concordia produced many goals on few shots. On Saturday the theme was reversed and the Cobbers produced many shots but no goals.

Concordia couldn't find a way to get on the board in their series finale with Bethel and lost 2-0 to the Royals at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

The loss gives the Cobbers a split in the series and drops their overall record to 6-13-0 on the season. CC is now 4-8-0 in conference play and falls into a 3-way tie for sixth place in the league standings. Bethel jumps into a tie for sixth place with CC and is also 4-8-0 in the MIAC and 6-13-0 overall.

Concordia's best chance to score came in the third period when they put up 12 shots on goal. The Cobbers pulled goalie Kiana Flaig with 1:30 left on the clock and had a pair of opportunities to score but were denied by the Bethel goalie before the Royals put the game out of reach with an empty-net tally at 19:22.

The game-winning goal came at the 6:48 mark of the first period and would hold up for the full 60 minutes.

The Cobbers posted 27 shots on goal on Saturday as opposed to 15 on Friday in a 7-1 win. Megan Mohr recorded a team-high four shots on goal while Maiah McCowan and Amanda Flemming added three shots each.

Flaig turned aside 29 of the 30 shots she faced in the finale and finished the series by stopping 68 of the 70 shots on goal from the Royals. Flaig lowered her goals against average on the season to 2.60 and raised her save percentage to 92.5%.
