Goff Named Sheila Brown Award Winner

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/26/18)---Concordia senior Emily Goff became the school's very first recipient of the MIAC Sheila Brown Award and led a group of five Cobber players who all earned conference postseason honors.

In addition to one of the premier awards given to Goff, Amanda Flemming and Callie Fagerstrom were named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while senior Tori Davis earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Fagerstrom was also placed on the MIAC All-Rookie Team. Megan Dondelinger was chosen by Concordia as the team's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

The five players helped Concordia earn its eighth straight MIAC playoff appearance.

The Sheila Brown Award, which started in 2005-06, is named for the longtime St. Catherine athletic director. It is presented by St. Catherine to a senior women's hockey student-athlete who has made a long-term contribution to her team's success and who has consistently competed with good sportsmanship. The winner is selected based on the following criteria: team leadership, sportsmanship and volunteer work, academic excellence and hockey skills and production.

Goff played in 82 games over four seasons at Concordia, earning All-Rookie Team honors in 2014-15 and helping the Cobbers earn a spot in the MIAC Playoffs each of the last four years. A double-major in Nursing and Spanish, Goff received Academic All-Conference honors last summer and is in line for a second straight Conference award this year with a 3.81 cumulative grade point average. She is also a difference-maker in the community, taking her passion for nursing to volunteer with such organizations as Love Your Melon and Colleges Against Cancer while serving as a member of the Student Nurses Association and National Nurses Association. Goff is the perfect embodiment of what it means to be a student-athlete in the MIAC.

Flemming earns All-Conference honors for the first time in her career after being placed on the MIAC All-Rookie Team last season. She led the team in scoring in overall and conference games. She finished the league season by scoring seven goals and adding 11 assists for a total of 18 points. She was tied for 10th in overall points and sixth in assists in MIAC contests.

Fagerstrom helped solidify the Cobber blue line in her very first collegiate season. She was tied for second in the conference in scoring by a defenseman with six goals and six assists for 12 points in 18 MIAC games. She was also tied for sixth in points scored by a first-year player.

Davis earned her second MIAC postseason honor. She finished her career by putting up 10 goals and five assists in conference play in 2018. Her 15 total points was in the Top 20 of the league and her 10 goals was tied for seventh best.
