A Double D3hockey.com Honor

MOORHEAD, Minn.  (11/24/15)—For the second straight week Concordia junior goalie Andrea Klug backed up her MIAC Player of the Week award by being named to the D3hockey.com National Team of the Week.

Klug, who posted her fourth consecutive shutout over the weekend, becomes one of only three players in the history of the award to earn the honor in back-to-back weeks.

Klug earned her third and fourth straight shutouts in the Cobbers' sweep over St. Catherine. Klug stopped 12 shots in the 1-0 win on Friday and then produced a 30-save performance on Saturday to help CC capture a 3-0 victory. Her 30 saves in the series finale was the most of any game during her shutout streak.

With her four consecutive shutouts Klug becomes the first goalie in the history of the MIAC to record back-to-back-to-back-to-back shutouts in consecutive games. In addition, Klug has produced a streak of 250 straight minutes without allowing a goal. That streak is the longest in all of Division III hockey this year in either women's or men's hockey.

Klug has now stopped 100 straight shots in her shutout streak. She has been in goal for Concordia's straight wins to start the MIAC season. The perfect 4-0 start to conference play marks only the second time in program history they have won their first four league games of the year.

Klug has seen her season goals against average drop to a miniscule 1.00 on the season. She is second in the MIAC in goals against average and 14th in all of Division III. Klug has upped her save percentage to 96.2% which is third best in the conference and 11th in the nation. Her 4-1 record is tied for the No.17 spot on the nation's winning percentage chart.

Klug and the Cobbers will put their shutout streak on the line when they host Marain (Wis.) in a two-game non-conference series on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. and then on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m.
