Consistent Krueger Leads Cobbers

HASTINGS, Minn. (9/24/17)--- Katie Krueger shot identical rounds of 88 to lead Concordia at the College City Classic at the Bellwood GC in Hastings.

Krueger's total of 176 helped the Cobbers finish in 11th place in the team standings. Concordia ended the two-day tournament with a total of 721 but shot three strokes better on Sunday with a 359.

Krueger was the only Cobber athlete to shoot in the 80's in both rounds. Here back-to-back 88's was good for a tie for 41st in the overall individual standings in a meet that featured 73 golfers.

Freshman Gabrielle Ross had the best tournament of her brief collegiate career. She finished with her lowest total to par this season after firing a team-best 86 on Saturday but then dropping back to a 91 on Sunday. Her two-day total of 177 put her in 45th place and is her season low total by 12 shots.

Erin Pennington and Andrea Peterson were the team's No.3 and No.4 golfers on the weekend and both lowered their scores on Sunday after shooting 94 on Saturday.

Pennington, the team's usual No.1 golfer, stumbled to the 94 in the opening round but then backed it up with an 89 on Day 2. The 89 on Sunday marks the second straight tournament she has carded an 89 on Day 2. Her total of 183 was good for a tie for 52nd place.

Peterson was the final member of the Cobbers to place in the Top 60. After shooting her 94 on Saturday she went three strokes lower on Day with a 91 and finished at 185 which was good for a tie for 59th place.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will have a two-week break before competing in the season-ending MIAC Championship Meet on Oct. 7-9 at Pebble Creek GC in Becker, Minn.
