Growing Pains

LAKE CITY, Minn. (9/17/17)--- The young Concordia team stumbled in the second round of the Division III Classic and fell to 13th place in the final team standings.

The Cobbers, who had three newcomers in their group of five for the weekend, shot a 350 team score on Saturday at The Jewel GC but then fell to a 369 in the second round on Sunday in the second tournament of the season.

Senior Erin Pennington, one of the two returning players on the team, shot a two-day total of 174 and tied for 50th place. She opened with an 85 and then carded an 89 on Sunday. Pennington's 85 on Saturday was the lowest round of any CC player on the weekend.   

Andrea Peterson, one of the three freshmen playing for the Cobbers on the weekend, was three shots behind Pennington. She fired an 87 on Day 1 and then went up three shots for a 90 on Sunday. Her 87 on Saturday is the low round of her collegiate career so far this year.

Bailey Klause dropped nine shots off her previous collegiate best on Saturday when she came home in 91. She then shot a 95 on Sunday to finish at 186.

Sophomore Katie Krueger was the "up and down" winner for the weekend. She started with an 87 on Saturday but then struggled to a 102 on Sunday.

Gabrielle Ross was the third first-year player for CC and she was the most consistent of any Cobber golfer on the weekend. She opened with a 94 and then finished with a 95.
