A 7-Shot Improvement On Sunday

HASTINGS, Minn. (9/25/16)—Concordia improved on their Day 1 team total by seven shots but it wasn't enough to jump up in the team standings and the Cobbers finished in 11th place at the College City Challenge.

The Cobbers opened the tournament by shooting a team total of 365 on Saturday at the Bellwood Oaks GC in Hastings. CC then recorded a total of 358 on Sunday which was 19 shots out of a Top 10 finish.

Senior Emily Grace Olson led Concordia with a two-day total of 170. She put up scores in the mid 80's on both days to finish in a tie for 32nd place. Olson carded an 86 on Day 1 and then bettered that mark by two shots by shooting an 84 on Sunday.

Olson has now shot in the 80's in three of her past four rounds and is second on the team in scoring in 2016 with an 88.6 average.

A trio of freshmen finished as the Cobbers' No.2, No.3 and No.4 golfers for the tournament. Alyssa Dalen posted her first team Top 2 finish of the year by recording a total of 173. She went out on Saturday with an 86 which was tied for the team lead. She came home with an 87 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 40th place. Katie Froemke made the biggest improvement from Day 1 to Day 2. She started the invite with a 99 but then trimmed 10 shots off that score on Sunday to card an 89 and finish at 188. Katie Kreuger had more success on Day 1. She shot a 94 on Saturday and then recorded a 100 on Sunday.

Emily Ladd was the fifth member of the Cobber squad for the weekend. She had a 99 on Saturday and then posted a 98 on Sunday to finish at 197.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Cobbers will have a two-week break before competing at the season-ending MIAC Championship Meet on Oct. 8-10 at Bunker Hills GC in Coon Rapids. Concordia finished eighth at last year's meet.
