Cobbers Finish Off Twin Cities Weekend

Concordia finished off its four games in the Twin Cities over the weekend by dropping a pair of games at Augsburg on Sunday. The Cobbers lost 3-2 in the opener and then fell 10-1 in Game 2.

Cobber junior Karissa Finnigan went 3-for-4 in Game 2 against Hamline in the Cobbers' doubleheader with the Pipers.
Stymied In St. Paul

Concordia lost a pair of road games in St. Paul on Saturday. The Cobbers equaled Hamline in hits in the opener, but lost 5-1 and then fell 7-3 in Game 2.

After opening the season with 20 games on the road, Concordia was finally able to step onto the field at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex. The Cobbers hosted St. Benedict in the home opener and lost 12-1 and 10-1.

One inning proved to be the turning point in the Cobbers’ doubleheader at Macalester. Concordia took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning in Game 1, allowed four runs and lost 7-6. The Scots used that last-inning momentum to post a 4-run second inning in Game 2 and went on to win 11-3.

Kailee Falconer had a hit in both games of the Cobbers' conference opener at Gustavus. She went 3-for-6 and is hitting .472 for the year.

Concordia finished off its annual spring training trip to Florida by splitting a pair of games on Thursday in Clermont. The Cobbers beat Neumann 2-1 and lost to Illinois Benedictine 11-0.

The Florida weather was unusually rainy, but Cobber sophomore pitcher Mallory Leitner was able to provide the sunshine as Concordia split their games with Penn St. Berks and Carlow (Pa.).

Junior Gabby Brown drove in both the Cobbers' runs in their 3-2 loss to Neumann. She finished the game by going 2-for-3.

The third day brought the most competitive games for Concordia on their spring trip to Florida. The Cobbers battled for 14 innings but, in the end, lost a pair of 3-2 decisions to Neumann (Pa.) and Rivier (N.H.).

Senior Rosie Unglaub was 2-for-2 in the Cobbers' first game on Sunday against Allegheny and scored the team's lone run.

On Saturday, Concordia opened their annual Florida spring training trip by playing two games less than 12 hours after they landed in the Sunshine State. On Sunday, the Cobbers had more rest but dropped a 9-1 decision against Allegheny (Pa.) in five innings and a 5-2 score line to Penn St. Brandywine.

Senior Karissa Finnigan threw a complete-game, 6-hit shutout in the Cobbers series-opening win over UM-Morris.
Pitchers Rule The Day In Split In St. Cloud

A pair of pitchers ruled the Cobbers' doubleheader with Minn.-Morris at the St. Cloud Dome. Senior Karissa Finnigan threw a complete-game, 6-hit shutout in the opener to help CC post a 1-0 win.

The second day of the BLC Kwik Trip Invitational saw Concordia posting an identical storyline to opening-day on Saturday. The Cobbers lost to host Bethany Lutheran and beat another UMAC opponent.

Mallory Leitner got the win in the pitching circle and hit her first collegiate home run as the Cobbers' split their first two games of the 2024 season.

Concordia jumped into the 2014 season by splitting a pair of games in the Bethany Lutheran Dome Invite at the Mankato Dome. The Cobbers fell to host Bethany Lutheran 10-4 in the opener and then posted a 9-1 win over North Central which ended after 5 innings.
