MELBOURNE, Fla. (3/3/26) – The Cobbers erased an early three-run deficit and used a five-run fourth inning to defeat the John Carroll Blue Streaks, 6-4, in Melbourne, Fla.
Concordia College (Minn) fell behind 3-0 after the opening frame but responded with steady offense and timely execution to seize the momentum.
The Cobbers broke through in the second inning when Jocelyn Maki singled to center to score Megan Guggisberg, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
Concordia delivered the decisive blow in the fourth. After loading the bases, Bailey Plante drew a walk to force in a run, and Lily Heskin followed with another bases-loaded walk to tie the game. A wild pitch plated the go-ahead run before Guggisberg delivered a two-run single to right, giving Concordia a 6-3 lead.
John Carroll looked to respond in the bottom of the seventh when a hard-hit ball to left field produced a run, trimming the deficit to 6-4. However, the Blue Streaks could not generate further offense as the Cobbers closed out the win.
Guggisberg paced Concordia at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Maki added two hits, an RBI, and a run scored, while the Cobbers worked seven walks in the contest.
