16 Cobbers Named NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes

MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/03/22)---Concordia had 16 players recognized as Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes as awarded by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Emma Bowman (Fr., Morris, Minn.), Gabriella Castro (Fr., Chaska, Minn./Rochester Mayo HS), Caitlin Culleton (Sr., Vassar, Man./Warroad HS), Karissa Finnigan (So., Calgary, Alta./Bowness HS), Megan Gavin (Sr., Cold Spring, Minn./Cold Spring Rocori HS), Valerie Kolstad (Sr., Lewiston, Mont./Fergus HS), Kenzie Leither (Sr., Kimball, Minn.), Danielle Lyon (Fr., St. Joseph, Minn./Holdingford HS), Landry Maragos (So., Minot, N.D.), Hailey Pangracs (Fr., Regina, Sask./Martin Academy), Emma Redlin (Jr., Eagan, Minn.), Josie Steidl (Fr., Carlos, Minn./Alexandria HS), Rosie Unglaub (Fr., Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS), Kate Wensloff (Sr., Roseau, Minn.), Molly Wilde (Jr., St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) and Hannah Wilke (Jr., St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village) all earned Scholar All-America honors this season.

In order to qualify for All-America Scholar Athletes, student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

Concordia's 16 All-American Scholar Athletes represent the third highest total among all MIAC schools. It also marks the second straight year that the Cobbers have had at least 15 student-athletes earn All-American Scholar honors.  

In addition to individual success, the Cobbers also posted a 3.51 team GPA which was in the Top 60 of all Division III schools.

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. NCAA Division III led the way with 2,227 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2021-22. NCAA Division I followed with 2,155 and NCAA Division II with 1,646. Junior Colleges and NAIA came in with 756 and 736 student-athletes respectively, with USCAA member Penn State Brandywine earning seven scholar-athlete nods.

Team GPAs and scholar-athletes are submitted by member head coaches.
