Gavin & Erholtz Earn All-MIAC Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/24/21)---Concordia seniors Megan Gavin and Taylor Erholtz capped their conference-playoff season by being voted on the MIAC postseason award list by the league coaches.

Gavin was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while Erholtz earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Fellow senior Cassandra Bohnsack was selected by Concordia as the team's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

It is the second conference postseason award for Gavin. She was placed on the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team as a sophomore in 2019. Erholtz earns the first MIAC postseason award of her career.

Gavin and Erholtz helped Concordia to its highest MIAC finish since the 2006 season. The Cobbers went 9-13 in league play and finished sixth in the final conference standings. The nine league wins was the most since 2011. The 2021 Concordia team also earned its first-ever MIAC playoff berth, and beat St. Ben's 2-0 in the playoff play-in game to record the program's first-ever playoff win.

Gavin was the team's No.1 pitcher and broke the school record for most strikeouts in a single season. She also became the program's all-time strikeout leader in 2021. Gavin finished the conference season by appearing in 13 games and posting a 2.21 earned run average. She had 110 strikeouts in her 79.1 innings pitched against league opponents.

Gavin finished the year third in the MIAC in strikeouts in conference contests. She was also third in strikeouts per seven innings (9.71), fourth in innings pitched and sixth in ERA among top starting pitchers.

Erholtz was the team's infield leader from her position at third base. She started 21 of the 22 MIAC games and finished with a .286 batting average. She led the team in league games in slugging percentage (.460), doubles (5), home runs (2) and total bases (29). Her home run total was tied for ninth in the league.

Erholtz hit .289 in all games and had a .471 slugging percentage with three homers and 13 doubles. All of those numbers were team highs.
