MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/17/21)---Riley Bergstrom and Megan Gavin were named to the MIAC All-Tournament Team after helping the Cobbers' to their first-ever postseason berth and playoff win.

The All-Tournament Team was voted on by the six head coaches whose teams competed in the 2021 MIAC Softball Playoffs.

Concordia opened the 2021 MIAC Tournament by beating St. Ben's 2-0. The Cobbers then advanced to the double-elimination semifinals where they were edged 2-1 in 8 innings by regular-season champion St. Olaf and then fell 5-1 against Bethel in the elimination game.

Bergstrom led the Cobbers with a .600 average over the three postseason games. She was 6-for-10 and drove in a pair of runs. Bergstrom posted an .800 slugging percentage and a .636 on-base percentage.

Bergstrom was 1-for-3 against the Bennies and drove in the winning run with a clutch 2-out double. She followed that up by going 2-for-4 against St. Olaf and one of the top pitchers in the region. Bergstrom finished off her weekend with a perfect 3-for-3 performance against Bethel.

Gavin continued her record-breaking pitching ways in the playoffs. During the year she broke the school record for single-season strikeouts and most career strikeouts and she followed that by fanning 18 batters in 19.1 innings pitched over the course of the three games.

Gavin ended the tournament with a 1.45 earned run average and opposing hitters hit .194 off of her.

Gavin blanked St. Ben's to start the postseason. She pitched all 7.0 innings, struck out seven and held the Bennies, one of the top hitting teams in the league, to only two hits. She backed that up by shutting out league champion St. Olaf through the first five innings of the semifinal game. Gavin once again struck out seven and didn't allow an earned run. She capped the tournament by striking out four in 5.0 innings against the Royals.
