Gavin Is MIAC Pitcher Of The Week x 2

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/29/21)---Megan Gavin has been named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time in the past three weeks as announced by the league office on Monday.

Gavin earned her second Pitcher of the Week honor for her record-setting 4-game performance over the last week. The highlight of her pitching excellence came on Saturday when she became the first pitcher in school history to throw a 5-inning, no-hitter and record all 15 outs on strikeouts.

Gavin followed that gem up with a 14-strikeout, 1-hit shutout on Sunday against Minn.-Morris. In the 11 innings she pitched over the weekend, she recorded 29 of the possible 33 outs via the strikeout.

For the week, Gavin appeared in four games, pitched a total of 17.1 innings and didn't allow an earned run. She gave up only five hits and recorded two wins and a save.

Perhaps her top performance came in the only outing she gave up a run. Gavin started the week by pitching the final out in the Cobbers' win over Division II MSU Moorhead and then gave up only four hits and struck out six in Concordia's 2-1 loss. Both of the runs she allowed against the Dragons were unearned.

She finished the week by recording 52 outs in her 17.1 innings of work and 36 were on strikeouts.

Gavin now has fanned 98 batters in 50.1 innings pitched this season. Her K total leads the MIAC and her ERA of 1.11 is second in the conference. Gavin now has 375 career strikeouts which is second on the school's all-time strikeout list.
