Isahak Punches Ticket To NCAA Championship Meet

MOORHEAD, Minn.  (11/13/21)---Next stop Louisville, Ky. Munir Isahak received official word that he will be taking his "Can't Hold Me Down" tour to the NCAA National Championship Meet at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville.

Isahak was extended one of the at-large individual bids for the North Regional. He placed in the Top 7 of individuals who weren't on teams who received bids to the national meet.

Isahak becomes the first Concordia athlete to qualify for the NCAA National Meet since 2011 when Tom Sederquist competed and finished in 39th place.

Isahak qualified for the national meet by virtue of his All-Region finish at the NCAA North Regional Meet. Isahak ran a 24:57.53 at the region meet and crossed the line in 14th place which was the highest finish by a CC athlete at the region meet since Sederquist's sixth-place finish in 2011.

Isahak's All-Region award was the second in a line of top honors for the senior. He also won the MIAC Championship Meet, becoming the first CC harrier to accomplish that feat since 1991.

Isahak was one of 70 individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who were not a part of a qualifying team, who was selected to participate in the championship meet.  

The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will be held at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. On Saturday, Nov. 20. The starting time for the men's race is 11:00 a.m. central time.
