Isahak Named MIAC Men's X-Country Athlete Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/14/21)---A second fourth-place finish against scholarship student-athletes earned Concordia senior Munir Isahak MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.

Isahak finished fourth at the MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet in a competition that was exclusively  NCAA Division II and NAIA programs. Munir also helped Concordia finish second in the team standings – their highest finish since competing in the meet.

Isahak is the first Concordia runner to win the conference weekly award since Eric Wicklund claimed the honor in the first week of the 2019 season.

Isahak finished the 6K race on Friday in a time of 18:40.7 to place in the Top 5 for the second straight meet. Isahak also finished fourth at the UND Invitational on Sept. 4 in a meet that featured NCAA Division I programs UND and NDSU.

Isahak's finishing time at the MSUM Twilight was almost 50-seconds faster than his mark at the same meet in 2019.

Isahak's individual success has also coincided with the Cobber team success. The second-place finish marked the first time in over 15 years that Concordia has beaten MSU Moorhead in a meet.

Isahak, and the rest of the Cobbers, will look to continue their early-season success when they compete in the Carleton Invitational on Sept. 25.
