Wicklund Wins 2nd Career MIAC Award

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/09/18)---Eric Wicklund's season just keeps getting better. The junior from Moorhead used his winning performance at the Jamestown Invitational to earn MIAC Athlete of the Week honors.

Wicklund earns the second MIAC Athlete of the Week award in his career. He was also given the honor last season after posting a Top 10 finish at the Jamestown Invitational. The last Cobber athlete to win the award before Wicklund last season was Tom Sederquist back in the 2011 season.

Wicklund continues to improve with each meet this season. He ran a 25:39 over the 8K course at Jamestown which was 10.5 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

The win was Wicklund's first of the season and his time was his fastest of the season on an 8K course. It was also six seconds faster than last year at the same meet when he finished ninth.

Wicklund's victory helped the Cobbers win the team title. Concordia had a trio of runners in the Top 10 of the meet as they won a multi-team title for the first time since the 2014 season.

Wicklund will seek another step of improvement when he competes with the rest of the Cobbers at the Ron Pynn Invite at the University of North Dakota on Saturday, Oct. 13.
