Schepp Ends Stellar Senior Season

Schepp Ends Stellar Senior Season

GENEVA, Ohio (5/26/17)---The injured right leg wouldn't cooperate with senior Jackson Schepp and he finished 16th in the decathlon at the NCAA National Outdoor Meet.

Schepp was the fifth Cobber to participate in the NCAA decathlon. His 16th-place finish is the highest by a Concordia decathlete since 2009 when Paul Westmark finished in the No.15 spot.

Schepp, who had been nursing a leg injury for most of the outdoor season, entered the meet with the No.8 total in the nation but was never able to get on track and earned a Top 20 finish at the NCAA Meet.

The Top 20 finish in the NCAA decathlon caps a stellar senior season for Schepp who won the MIAC indoor heptathlon and finished 10th at the NCAA National Indoor Meet.

Schepp finished with a final total of 5,725 points which was 730 points shy of his qualifying mark of 6,455 points which he posted at the North Central Multi-Event and was the second highest total in school history.

Schepp used his strength in the high jump to finish in a tie for second among all 20 competitors as he cleared 6-05. The reigning MIAC high jump champion scored 767 points which was his highest point total of the 10 events in the meet.

Schepp scored over 600 points in three other events. He posted a distance of 21-00.75 in the long jump to score 679 points – his second highest total of the event. Schepp also scored 660 points in the 400 meters and 639 points in the 100-meter dash.
