March Ends With Loss To Macalester

FARGO, N.D. (3/29/14)—Even Jystad kept his win streak alive but it wasn't enough as Concordia lost 8-1 against Macalester in the team's last match in March.

Jystad paired with sophomore Austin Storm to come away with an 8-0 win at No.3 doubles. Jystad has now won a singles or doubles match in three straight team competitions for the Cobbers. He leads the team in both and singles wins. Jystad has four singles victories on the year and a trio of doubles victories.

The Cobbers trailed the Scots 2-1 after the doubles competition and were poised to make a run in singles play but that never materialized as they were unable to come put together multiple point streaks at the end of games.

Jystad came the closest to a singles win as he lost in the super-set tie-breaker. Jystad lost 6-3 in the first set but then rallied to win 7-5 in the second. He was unable to get on top in the tie-breaker and wound up losing 10-6.

A pair of freshmen had solid matches but couldn't come up with key points. Austin Laumb lost 6-3, 6-1 at No.6 singles while Sam Smith fell 6-2, 6-1 at No.3 singles.

Concordia will start the final month of play when they host St. Olaf on Saturday, April 19. CC will finish off the 2014 season with road matches at Bethel and St. John's.
