A Successful, Second-Half Senior Sendoff

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/30/21)----Nate Weaver scored a goal in each half and helped Concordia give their seniors a successful sendoff as they beat Hamline 5-1 in the final game of the 2021 season.

Weaver's goal at the 55:16 mark was one of four Cobber goals in the second half. CC broke open a 1-1 halftime tie and to earn their third conference win. Concordia finishes the year at 6-11 overall and 3-7 in the MIAC.

Hamline (2-12-3, 0-7-3 MIAC) opened the scoring on a corner kick in the 10th minute of play. The lead would last 12-minutes before Weaver struck for the first of his two goals. The Cobbers were awarded a free kick just outside the HU penalty area and Weaver hit a low curling shot around the wall to tie the game at the 21:08 mark.

Weaver's second goal proved to be the game winner. He took a pass from Telvin Vah in the middle of the field and proceeded to chip the goalie from 30 yards out. Weaver's tally at 55:16 was his seventh of the year and 28th of his career. The 28 goals are fourth on the school's all-time scoring list.

Freshman Mason Weninger added a third goal 7:46 later when he headed home a cross from Cameron Bolinske from inside the 6-yard box. The goal was Weninger's first collegiate tally.

Vah then added to his impressive scoring streak. He tapped home a rebound at the 75:00-minute mark to stake the Cobbers to a 4-1 lead. The goal was Vah's 11th in the last eight games. He also has at least one goal in all eight of those games. Vah finishes the year with 15 goals and 7 assists for 37 points. His goal and point total lead the MIAC.

Vah's 15 goals are one shy of the school record for a single season and his 37 points are third most in program history.

Freshman Gavin Groshelle scored a memorable first college goal when he turned at the top of the penalty area and hammered a volley that found its way into the top right corner of the net.

Junior goalie Erick Torres made four saves to record his fifth win of the year.

Concordia outshot Hamline 15-8 in total shots and 11-5 in shots on goal.
