Cobbers Overtaken In Final 20 Minutes

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (10/16/21)---Concordia conceded two goals in the final 20 minutes of play and lost 2-1 at Augsburg. The Cobbers held on to a 1-0 lead for over 40 minutes but then gave up the game-deciding goals in a span of 10 minutes.

The defeat ends Concordia's 2-game win streak and drops their conference record to 2-4-0. CC is 4-8-0 in all games. The Auggies stay in a tie for second place in the league standings. They are 6-2-0 in the conference and 11-3 overall.

Junior Telvin Vah continued his league-leading goal output when he gave Concordia a 1-0 lead at the 28:56 mark of the opening half. The goal was Vah's ninth of the year and fifth in MIAC play. Both totals are tied for the conference lead. Vah now has 22 total points which is second in the league.

Freshman Yonas Adams recorded his first collegiate point on the first goal of the game. He was credited with the assist that gave CC a 1-0 lead.

The Cobbers took a 1-0 lead into the break and the survived an early second-half flurry from Augsburg.

The Auggies tied the game at the 72:46 mark and then took the lead at 82:34. Neither team was able to get a shot on goal in the final seven minutes of play.

The Cobbers were outshot 7-5 in shots on goal and 18-12 in total shots.

Vah led all players with six total shots and had two shots on frame. Adams, Celvin Atubra and Michael Matthews had the other shots on goal for the Cobbers.

Erick Torres made five saves in the game in goal for Concordia.        

UP NEXT: Concordia will hop on the bus and travel to Hancock, Mich. for their final non-conference game of the season. The Cobbers will play at Finlandia on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m.
