Vah Named MIAC Player of the Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/19/21)---Concordia sophomore Telvin Vah (West Fargo, N.D.) was named the MIAC Player of the Week for his 2-goal, 2-assist performance in the Cobbers' three games last week.

Vah earns the award for the first time in his career and becomes the first Concordia player to be honored as MIAC Player of the Week since Henry Schaefer earned the award on Sept. 16, 2019.

Vah, who has been the driving force for the Cobber offense this spring, came through with the game-winning goal in overtime in Concordia's 4-3 win over Augsburg on Saturday. He was able to hold off a pair of Auggie defenders inside the penalty area and then blast home the winner from 12 yards out.

Vah also set up the late game-tying goal in the victory over Augsburg. With the clock ticking under the 5-minute mark, Vah was able to take control of the ball inside Concordia's offensive half of the field. He was able to turn and thread a perfect pass to Nate Weaver by the top of the penalty area on the right wing. Weaver took a touch inside and then pounded a head-high shot that whistled past the goalie and into the net to tie the game at 3-3.

Vah backed up his 3-point game on Saturday with another 3-point game on Sunday in the Cobbers' 3-1 victory at St. Mary's.

He scored the opening goal of the game for CC. The Cobbers were awarded a penalty kick in the 14th minute of play and Vah stepped to the spot to take the kick. His shot was stopped by the goalie but the rebound came to Weaver who slid a pass back to Vah and Vah knocked it into the net.

Vah finished his week off by getting the assist on the final goal of the game.

Vah has been on a tear in the Cobbers' five games this spring. He leads in points and assists. Vah has 12 points and six assists on the season and has helped the Cobbers post a goals per game average of 2.8.

Vah will look to continue his offensive hot streak when the Cobbers finish off their spring season with an exhibition game at St. Olaf on Saturday, May 1 at 4:30 p.m.
