WINONA, Minn. (10/19/19)---Concordia conceded a pair of goals in the first 17 minutes of play on the road at St. Mary's and lost 2-1.
The Cobbers scored in the third minute of the second half and proceeded to attack the net for the rest of the second half but couldn't come up with the game-tying goal. CC had four shots in the final 25 minutes of play and had a corner kick in the final minute but couldn't convert and lost for just the second time in the last seven games.
Concordia is now 8-5-2 in all games and 2-5-0 in the MIAC. The Cardinals win for the second time in three games and are now 6-8-0 overall and 3-4-0 in league play.
The Cobbers fell into a 2-0 hole in the first 17 minutes of play as St. Mary's scored at the 6:34 mark and then again at 16:07.
Concordia's halftime adjustments paid off in the early stages of the second period. Freshman Telvin Vah connected on his second goal of the season on an assist from Nate Weaver at the 47:36 mark.
Weaver's assist pushes his season point total to 24 which is the 15th highest single-season point total in program history.
Concordia would continue to push forward, and the Cardinals would settle into a defensive mode, as the game went on in the second half. Weaver, Casey Haldis and Sam Gess all had chances at goal in the final 30 minutes of play but couldn't find the back of the net to come up with the equalizer.
Both teams had 10 total shots in the game. The Cobbers held a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. Gess had three total shots to lead the CC offense while Vah put up a team-high two shots on goal.
Noah Sahr made a pair of saves in goal for the Cobbers.
UP NEXT: Concordia will return home and host Gustavus on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. The Gusties are 12-2-0 in all games and 6-1-0 in the MIAC.
