Glogoza Earns MIAC Weekly Honor

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/12/16)--- Concordia senior goalie Ben Glogoza capped off his impressive unbeaten, 23-save weekend by being named the MIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

Glogoza becomes the first Cobber player to earn the conference weekly award since Jared Rice claimed the honor at the beginning of the 2012 season.

Glogoza started his award-winning two-game performance by stopping 10 shots in Concordia's 2-0 win over Wis.-Superior on Friday. He then recorded a 13-save game on Sunday in the team's 1-1 double overtime tie against Simpson.

Glogoza has helped Concordia start the season with a 2-1-1 record which is the best four-game start to a season since 2010. The Cobbers have only allowed two goals in their first four games of the year which ties for the fewest allowed in the MIAC this season and is the fewest allowed by a Cobber team after four games since 2002.

Not only did Glogoza have the quantity of saves for the two games he also made several quality saves from in close. Against Simpson he made a point-blank stop of a Storm attacker who was wide open and looked to head home the game winner from six yards out. Glogoza also made several full out diving saves to keep Concordia tied during the second half and both overtime periods.

On Friday Glogoza collected his first career shutout by blanking Wis.-Superior. He also made several point-blank stops including one that caromed off his face and away from the goal.

In addition to his shot-stopping ability in the two games, Glogoza also used his 6-5 frame to collect would-be crossing attempts. His ability to patrol the penalty area also stopped opposing team's attack before they could get started.

Glogoza has played in three of the four Cobbers games this season and has a goals against average of 0.59. He has made 34 saves in the three games which is second in the MIAC. Glogoza is also in the Top 5 in the MIAC in GAA, fewest goals allowed and save percentage.

Glogoza will be looking to continue his success when the Cobbers open the MIAC schedule. Concordia will host Hamline on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.
