All-Region & All-America Scholar Honors

All-Region & All-America Scholar Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/11/2016)—Cade Montplaisir capped off his junior season by being named to the PING All-Central Region Team as well as earning Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar honors.

Montplaisir was one of only two golfers from the MIAC to earn both All-Region and All-America Scholar honors.

Cobber senior Landon Poss also earned All-America Scholar honors.

Montplaisir becomes the first Cobber player to earn All-Central Region honors since the 2012 season when Pat Dietz and Coy Papachek both received the honor.

The all-region award comes on the heels of Montplaisir officially being named to the MIAC All-Conference Team. Montplaisir led Concordia in scoring average during the 2015-16 season. He averaged 74.6 strokes in his 19 rounds during the year. He also had four rounds where he shot level par or better. Montplaisir's best finish of the season at a multi-team event came at the Wis.-Eau Claire Blugold Invite where he placed second with a 4-over par total of 147 (72-75).

Montplaisir finished in a tie for third at the MIAC Championship Meet and won the dual meet with Minn.-Morris in the spring when he fired a 1-under 71 at the Pebble Lake GC in Fergus Falls.

Montplaisir's best round of the season was a 70 which he carded in the second round at the MIAC meet. He also recorded a 71 and a pair of 72's during the season.

In the classroom Montplaisir carries a 3.43 grade point average and is majoring in Biology. He is planning on attending medical school after his graduation in the spring of 2017.

Poss earns All-America Scholar honors for the second straight season. Like Montplaisir, he was also named to the MIAC All-Conference Team. Poss finished his academic career at Concordia with a 3.36 GPA while majoring in Business.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
