Similar Scores Lead To 15th-Place Finish

SAUK CENTRE, Minn. (9/20/15)—Concordia posted almost identical team scores on the two days of the St. John's Fall Invite and finished in 15th place.

The Cobbers carded a 319 on Saturday and then followed that up with a 318 on Sunday to finish at 637. Last year Concordia shot a two-day total of 632 and placed 10th.

Cade Montplaisir was the top Concordia golfer for the third straight week. He went 76-75 (151) to finish in a tie for 15th place and earn his third straight top 15 finish on the year. Last week he was second at the Wis.-Eau Claire Invite and he claimed 14th place at the Augsburg Invite.

Montplaisir leads CC this season with a 74.3 average.

Landon Poss was the No.2 golfer for Concordia for the second time in the first three weeks of the year. He shot identical 77's on the weekend and tied for 22nd place.

Poss is second on the team in scoring average. He is averaging 76.3 shots over his first six rounds of the year.

There was a large divide between Montplaisir and Poss and the rest of the team. While Montplaisir and Poss both fired rounds in the 70's on Day 1 and Day 2, not a single Cobber golfer went lower than 80 in the tournament.

Sam Hendricks was the team's No.3 player for the weekend. He shot a total of 163 (83-80) and finished in a tie for 72nd place. Hendricks has been in the top 3 of the team in all three meets this year and is averaging 78.3 shots per round.

Nathaniel Kahlbaugh, Mark Huneke and Trevor Swangler rounded out the top 6 at the tournament for CC. Kahlbaugh shot 167 (81-86) while Huneke and Swangler came home with identical 170 scores.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will head to central Minnesota to take part in the one-day Minn.-Morris Invite on Thursday, Sept. 24. CC will then head to the three-day Twin Cities Classic on Sept. 26-28.
