Senior Salute - Mitchell Ziebarth

The Cobber "Senior Salute" series is a way to honor all the Concordia spring sports athletes who had their senior season come to an abrupt halt. We want to highlight one senior each day to thank them for all their hard work, dedication and Cobber spirit they have show over their careers in maroon and gold.

Cobber Senior Salute - Mitchell Ziebarth - Baseball

What is one of the things you were looking forward to most for this year’s season?
One more year of being around the team. Whether it was hanging out on bus rides to away games, Coste MLB stories or Bucky teaching us life lessons. These were a few of my favorite parts about being a Cobber athlete.

What is one of the top things you will miss about being a Cobber athlete?
The family atmosphere. It sounds really corny, but coming in as a freshman I was nervous about finding my place. After the first fall practice I realized I had 50 brothers. The team from seniors down, always made it a goal - and succeeded - in making every member feel like they belonged. While the brotherhood will remain, not being able to be around that group each day will be a challenge.

What is something you are going to miss about Concordia College – away from athletics?
All the good people. Concordia is, and always will be, a special place. Every staff, student and alumni are special people who will drop everything to help you. Specifically, I will miss the accounting faculty who were always there to answer any question about career, class or even just life. The people here are amazing and to have the privilege to interact with them on a daily basis is a gift I will forever cherish.

What is one of your favorite highlights/memories from your time playing athletics/being with your team?
Just hanging out with the team throughout the season. Whether it was laughing through an entire van ride with Quality Control Coach Horan, playing games and sharing stories on the bus rides, celebrating home runs, Kingsley dominating at Frisbee or losing the van keys after a game in Florida - being apart of something like this is very special.

What is one of your favorite memories from Concordia away from athletics?
All the nights spent with friends in the library. While we did study very hard, we also had a lot of fun hanging out with each other. The time went by much faster, and I like to think we achieved more academic success.

What are your post-graduation plans?
I will be working as an Audit Associate at Deloitte in their Minneapolis office.
