MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/16/19)--- The Concordia Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the 7th annual Golden Cobbs award ceremony on Tuesday night in Memorial Auditorium.

The Golden Cobbs are a year-end celebration of all the great accomplishments from the past year in Concordia athletics.

The awards ceremony was preceded by a special “red carpet” entrance where Concordia student/athletes to socialize and take pictures with their fellow Cobbers. The special night also featured a free dinner which was supplied by Buffalo Wild Wings who is one of the sponsors for the ceremony.

The awards ceremony featured 12 different category winners. In addition to the awards voted on by fans, family and friends – achievements in academics by the Concordia student/athletes were also recognized. 

The 2019 Golden Cobbs featured a new award. The Jaynie Halvorson Service Award is named after former Cobber women's basketball player Jaynie Halvorson and is awarded to the Concordia team with the most volunteer impact in the Fargo-Moorhead community. 

This year's Bucky Burgau Impact Award was awarded to longtime Cobber football assistant coaches Dale Hertel, Dan Kostich and John Marsh who combined to coach for 57 years at Concordia and have mentored hundreds of student/athletes.

Newcomer of the Year: Tyler Bossert, Men’s Hockey
Coach of the Year: Chris Howe, Men’s Hockey
Individual Best Moment: Ty Johnson at NCAA Upper Midwest Regional Meet, Wrestling
Team Best Moment: Men’s Basketball vs Augsburg
Individual Performance of the Year: Mario Bianchi, Men’s Hockey
Game of the Year: Men’s Hockey vs St. John’s
Upset of the Year: Women’s Soccer vs St. Olaf
Comeback of the Year: Kirstin Simmons, Women’s Basketball
Super Cobb: Jenna Stillwell
Men's Team GPA: Tennis
Women's Team GPA: Cross Country
Jaynie Halvorson Service Award: Men’s Hockey
Bucky Burgau Impact Award: Dan Kostich, Dale Hertl, John Marsh
